A piece of the Pie

Typically at the beginning of the year prior to the first fruits offering, my church worships through our annual fasting time. And as usual my husband and I participated along with many other members of our great congregation.

And if you have ever taken more than a day to fast and pray and consecrate yourself you begin to realize that you think of all sorts of foods to eat, even foods you don’t normally eat.

Often times, the mind wanders to unmentionables like chocolate, potato chips, cookies or pie.  Now, I’m not a big pie eating person. I don’t like sweet potato, lemon meringue, keylime or pumpkin pie but I do dabble in a little apple or pecan. Actually I would rather have a cake but that’s not the point here.

My point is, when you have a warm , freshly baked, ready-to-eat pie sitting on the window sill and you finally get a slice of that pie when you take a piece out, you leave a hole in the pie that cannot be replaced.

But when our perfect Father took a piece of himself, created us in His image and in His likeness, there was nothing from Him that was missing, separated, broken, or incomplete.

We can rejoice in the fact that our Father is absolutely perfect. Why would we want to serve a God that is any less?

And just as our perfect Father spoke things into existence like the light and the ocean, we also can speak things into our life.  What is it that you need to speak into your life today? What is it that needs to be pulled down from the spiritual, unseen world into our physical, natural world?  Remember, just as with the creation of man, when we call things from the spiritual unseen realm, we are not leaving a hole.  We are making ourselves whole.   Nothing will missing from heaven, nothing will be broken or incomplete.

Please take some time this week to think about that thing or those things that you need in your life, for the life of your children,  your family,  your friends, in your career, in your finances or in your relationships to help your world be more complete.

You may be thinking, “Sure, God does it for others but He can’t or won’t do it for me”.  Of course He will.  How do you know if you aren’t right on the edge of your blessing?  If you give up or stop the good thing you are doing you will never know.  Kind of like the man whose son was just about to be healed by Jesus. He asked Jesus “If you can heal my son…?” and Jesus’ response was “IF I CAN?” (emphasis mine). Of course the man felt less than worthy after he clearly exposed his unbelief.  And his words after this were, “Jesus,  I believe, but help my unbelief.”

We all have areas of unbelief. Ask your father today to help you with the unbelief and speak God’s word into your atmosphere. Don’t just think about it actually speak it. That’s what God did with the light and the creation of man.  And since we were created in His image and His likeness, that’s what we need to do too.  He’s our pattern.  The first time it may seem a little strange but when you begin to really see results you will know that your words have power beyond your imagination.

Don’t allow there to be any pieces of the pie missing in your life, Speak it now. Speak it loud. Speak it proud. Speak it with boldness. Don’t be afraid, you can do it.

Be well my friends.  And may the words you speak bring wholeness into your life.

Be well and be free.

Spring is Here

Spring has sprung.  At least on the calendar.

I live on the East Coast and the weather this last few months has been quite eventful.  If you enjoy the snow you are absolutely loving the weather we’ve had this season.  It’s been super cold and extra snowy.  But if you’re like most of us,  you’re ready this craziness to end.  And I have good news…

Spring has sprung.

At least on the calendar.

I was walking into work one morning this week  in 23 degree weather and the thought came  to my mind…isn’t it Spring?  Well yes, of course it is.  At least that’s what the calendar says.  And then immediately two questions came to mind…why am I stepping over a mound of snow and why am I freezing?

I KNOW that it’s Spring even though I SEE snow and I FEEL cold.

It was right then that God gave me a revelation. I have to conduct my life very similar to how I handled walking into work that day.  There are things that I have to KNOW, even though I see something or feel something that is contrary to those facts.

I KNOW that if God is for me then who can be against me.  So when my circumstances try to dictate my life, I have to hold on to what I know.

I KNOW that He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.  So when I don’t feel well or I received an unfavorable doctor’s report, who’s report will I believe?

I KNOW that when I fall into various trials, that I am to count it all joy because the testing of my faith produces patience.  And when patience has it’s perfect work, I will be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

What is it you need to KNOW today?  What are you seeing that you need to turn your eyes away from and look to where your help comes from?  What are you feeling that you need to exercise your God given self control to overcome?

Each of us have situations in our lives that our feelings are trying to dictate.  I implore you today to focus on what you KNOW and not what you feel.  You can do it.  And if you don’t yet know that you can, contact me and we’ll work together to find some scriptures to stand on.

If you are visiting the site today for the first time, please contact me and send me your email address.  I would love to add you to our contact list so you can continue on your freedom journey with us.  Please email at reloverevolution@gmail.com.

If you have never left a comment, I would love to hear from you.  It encourages me to know you are there.    Thanks friends and be well.  We’ll chat soon.

Come Out With Your Hands Up

A few weeks ago, I was watching television with my son. A show came on and the announcer said,  ” And now, in color, The Dating Game”.

Well, I just about fell out of my chair laughing. My son looked quizzically at me. He could not figure out why in the world I was laughing. When I finally got myself together, I told him that it wasn’t the show that had me laughing, or the fact that the first lady came out in a sunshine yellow dress and these horrible shoes, it was the fact that the announcer said in color.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve heard that. I remember the times of black-and-white television. One of the things I remember about that old black-and-white was when my father watched westerns.  Right now, I can’t remember the names of the shows but there was one where the town sheriff was one of the main characters.  Whenever the old stagecoach was robbed or the town saloon, the sheriff would always come on the scene and eventually the bad guys came out with their hands up.

Things haven’t changed that much even now when watching TV, in color, you may hear those famous words, come out with your hands up . And eventually by the end of the show you see the bad guy with hands raised above his head walking out humbly at the command of the sheriff or the police detective. Just like the character Woody in Pixar Films Toy Story series, “Reach for the Sky”.

This  reaching for the sky is the universal sign for surrendering. This sign lets everyone know that you have given up. You are at the mercy of the one in charge. You are under the authority of the one calling you out.

Isn’t it amazing that the universal sign for surrender is also the universal sign for praise and adoration and worship of our Lord and King? But if you think about it, isn’t it the same thing? Letting God know that you surrender to Him and are giving Him complete control. Surrendering to God and letting him know that you were at his mercy and  that you acknowledges His authority over you.

Come out with your hands up today.  For some it’s hard to do. But once you surrender to him it’s the most freeing thing you can do.

Be well and be free my friends.

The Dash in the Middle

Imagine a ten gallon bucket filled to the brim with golf balls.  Is the bucket full?

Yes and no.  It’s filled with golf balls but there’s room for more.

Now imagine a huge pitcher full of marbles being poured into the bucket.  The bucket is being shaken for all of the marbles to settle to the bottom.  Is the bucket full?

Yes and no.  It’s filled with golf balls and marbles but there’s room for more.

Now you have a five pound bag of sand.  You’re now scooping the sand into the bucket and watching the sand sift through the golf balls and the marbles until the sand reaches the top.  Is the bucket full?

Yes and no.  It’s filled with golf balls, marbles and sand but there’s room for more.

There’s room for water.  And as you imagine the water filling the bucket, the sand is pressed down and eventually the water will over flow.  Is the bucket full?

Yes it is.  This bucket represents your life.  The important things in life like your family and friends are represented by the golf balls.  Other things that matter like your house and car are represented by the marbles.   The grains of sand are just like a lot of issues in our life, it’s the small stuff. And the water just reminds us that no matter how busy we think we are, if we really need to, if we really press in, we can make room for one more thing.

The moral of this little story is simple.  If we fill our lives with the small stuff we won’t have room for the big stuff.  My friends, please be certain that when the time comes for you to meet Jesus, He will be proud to call you home, certain to say well done and your loved ones left behind will have absolute comfort that you are with Him.

I know a great woman of God who seemingly was always ready and able to make everything fit in her life.  She had her priorities in order and I appreciate our Father God for allowing me the privilege of knowing her and calling her friend.  Her dash in the middle was so full of life and an earnest, steadfast love for the Lord.

KP, you will be sorely missed by so many. You will be sorely missed by me.  I love you girl. And thanks be to God, I’ll see you later.

WOW, look at me!

I’m a writer. I never thought of myself as a writer. Although as I now reflect upon my first 20 years of life, I’ve always been a writer. When I was young, it was nothing for me to write down my feelings of extreme emotion like joy or anger or sadness. In fact, I still have some of those writings tucked away.  Maybe I’ll share some one day.

Over ten years ago I began to keep a journal writing my thoughts, fears, prayers. And when my kids were young , I began a journal for each of them journal-ling about their successes, adventures, accidents (ER visits) and some of their failures. My hope with the journals for my kids began as a way for me to write their cutest and most memorable childhood moments to share with them in their future. Maybe to share with the woman they were to marry and then to share with their kids.

Funny to think the class I had the most trouble with in high school was my 11th grade English class.  And it probably wasn’t the class that caused me the most trouble,  it’s probably because my teacher wanted me to write about things I wasn’t interested in. Actually the class that gave me the most trouble was ninth grade biology. I failed it and had to go to summer school.  Anyway…

My prayer for you today is that you take time to examine your life and find the thing you’ve always done.  We were all created for a purpose.  God put you here for a reason.  What you’ve always done is possibly what you continue to be called to do.

  • If it’s teaching, then teach.
  • If it’s helping people, then help.
  • If it’s encouraging folks, then encourage.
  • If it’s administration, then organize.
  • If it’s talking, then tell someone something positive.
  • If it’s being funny, then spread the gift of laughter.
  • If it’s making sure everyone around you is safe, then work in security.

I realize now that I’ve been called to write.  I thank God for his patience with me while I found this piece of myself. Of course it’s all to give Him glory. I pray this writing here will glorify Him by encouraging you to find His will for your life. To God be the glory for the things that he has done and the way he has revealed Himself in my life.

A popular DJ on our local radio station has made 2014 the year to GET IT DONE.   For me, it’s my year of FOCUS.

What have you been called to?
What is this your year for?
What is your IT in get IT done?

This time next year, I want you to be accomplished in that area of your life.  Next year this time, I want you to be able to look in the mirror and say, “WOW! Look at Me!  I’m a …”

What’s your focus?  Please share it with me.  If you need an accountability partner, this could be your start.  Think about it.  Be well my friends.  Be well.

Conflict? Look to the Creator

My church is so wonderful.  I remember when we moved into our first church building.  It was so new and exciting.  The church leadership planned a marriage conference as the first church event to take place.  Advertisements were done in print and on radio.  Registration fees were paid in advance.  As with many new construction projects there were a few delays.  We had received our occupancy permit but not all of the finishing touches were complete.  We moved forward with our conference.   The building was packed full of anticipation.  Couples were literally on the  edge of their seats waiting for the next words to be uttered.  And as I looked around, I don’t think anyone noticed that there was not a drop of paint on the walls. I know I didn’t care.

After this event, one of the first outside events advertised in our church that my husband and I attended was another marriage conference sponsored by a very popular, nationwide family ministry.  It was held in a hotel about 25 miles away from where we lived.  I thank God for both these times to be renewed in our marriage.  My husband and I still have the notes we took during the first conference and the handouts and “marriage certificate” we received when we completed the second.

The first relationship on the earth was one between God and Adam, but marriage is the first relationship between two people in the earth.  I know now that my Bishop holds marriage in high esteem.  He honored the marriage relationship and knew that if our church was to be great, the relationships in the church, particularly the marriage relationship had to be great.

In our church, our Bishop often encourages us when reading a book to look for that one nugget of truth that will change your life.  I’ve learned to do this not only when reading a book but in many different life situations, including any conference I attend.

The one nugget of truth I learned from one of the marriage  conferences was this…
look past the creation and look to the Creator.

Whether it’s at home, work, church or on the road, when I have a conflict I try desperately to look past the creation and look to the Creator.

It may not happen right away but I’m working on that piece.  I try to take the time time and look past any person I have a conflict with and take the time to look to the Creator of that person.

When I look to the Creator, I look into the face of LOVE.

If I take a time and talk to the Creator, I’m communicating with LOVE.

When we look to Love and when we communicate with Love, we have no choice but to respond in and with Love.  We have all had times when we have failed miserably at these tests of conflict and there have been times where we’ve passed these tests with flying colors. Very rarely though do both parties pass the test at the same time.  At least that’s true in my life.  My week has been choked full of these moments.  Some times I passed the test and other times I’ve failed.

We must remember, just because you think you’ve done and said everything just right, take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself if you’ve done and said everything right but also have you said and done everything right with the right Spirit (motives and intentions) behind it.

We would all like to hear about a recent time where you passed a test such as this or when you failed but were able to regain your footing and learn a lesson for the next time. Will you share your experience and insight to help someone in a similar situation?  You don’t have to share your name but your trial may help someone else through their test.

Be well my friends.

Voices in My Head

Excerpt from a chapter in my soon to be released book.

This chapter is entitled REJUVENATE.  ENJOY.

Voices in My Head

Have you ever taken the time to think that the only person you can never get away from is yourself?  For some, that doesn’t seem so bad.  We live pretty good lives, we make a decent  living, our kids are somewhat well behaved and our friends are adequate.  But for others, the thought of not being able to get away from themselves is downright depressing.  I truly believe that’s why some folks end up as schizophrenics, manic depressants and the like.  The voices in their heads (tormenting thoughts, if you will) get so overwhelming that their minds literally take them away from themselves.  I’m surely no expert in this area and have no thesis or scientific leg to stand on except that the Holy Spirit told me.  (And that’s good enough for me.)

Truth is, if folks are not strong enough in their knowledge of who they are in Christ to combat the voice of the Enemy, then those voices will overtake them. The lies the Enemy tells them start to become their truth.  A portion of John 8:44 tell us that “When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

What are the voices in your head saying to you?  Is there enough of God’s truth in your head to be able to cast down those imaginations of the enemy and keep rising to the top, reaching your goals.  What are the voices in your head saying to you?

Think about it.  Be well my friends.

Too Many Questions

Over the past year or so, God has been amazing at providing me with answers to some questions I have.  Typically it’s something that doesn’t mean a hill of beans to anyone else but simply something I’m curious about. I have many questions for God when I get to heaven.  I’m sure you do too.

A few of my questions revolve around our senses.

When we close our eyes, we cannot see.  Is that because 2 Corinthians says “for we live by faith and not by sight”?  But when we try to shut out sound by closing our ears, why can’t we do that?  Is it because Romans tells us that “faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ”?

People say that we have two ears and one mouth because we should listen twice as much as we talk.  Ok, I can get with that one but is that the reason why?

Maybe I have too many questions.  Like, since we have command over the earth, why can we not fly like the birds and swim underwater for in definite periods of time?  Scientists say they are discovering new creatures all the time, how many different creatures are there?  Ok, here’s one…what day was Jesus really born? And then of course there’s the age old question, “Why do bad things happen to good people?”

All are good questions and one day they will all be answered. But for now, we continue to ponder these things.

What questions do you have for God?  Please leave your question in the comment section.  I’m sure God will hear you. And I’m certain, in time, He will answer.

Be well my friends.

I talked to God today

I talked to God today and he told me that this day is not about you.  He said,

This day is about your spouse.  This day is about your children.  This day is about your parents. This day is about your best friend. This day is about the guy in the car beside you. This day is about the woman down the hall in cubicle number four.

So when your spouse ignores you and our children are ungrateful and your parents don’t remember your name and your friend doesn’t call and the guy cuts you off and the woman lies on you, don’t fret. This day is not about you, God said, It’s about Me.

He said, You were created to praise Me. You were created to worship Me. You were created for Me. So count it all joy, rejoice in Me always, know that there is nothing too big for Me, know that I hear your heart when you put all of your hope and trust in Me. Know there is nothing too hard for Me. Know that with Me all things are possible. Know that I have plans for you, to prosper you and to give you a hope and a future.

When you talk directly to Love itself, what you get back is just that…LOVE.  LOVE is your bridegroom. LOVE is your friend. LOVE is your father.  LOVE will guide your footsteps and keep you in perfect peace.

Did you talk to God today? What did LOVE say to you? Your comment may just be the one thing someone else needs to read today to make it through.

Be well my friends. All is well with God.  And when you are in Him all is well with you.

The Point of No Return

This is the point where it’s closer to finish than it is to go back to the beginning.

It’s like walking a 3 mile path.  Once you’re past the ½ way mark, you may as well finish.

Well I have to confess, I have a very deep fear.  After some serious soul searching, I finally realize exactly what I’m afraid of…I’m afraid of succeeding.  Here’s a quote that perfectly defines my fear.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
– Marianne Williamson

Here’s another famous quote by a woman I admire, Joyce Meyer.  She says, “Do it afraid”.  Of all the things I’ve heard Joyce Meyer say, this is the one I remember the most.  Second to that is “to always put away your shopping cart” (teehee).

But now I’m at the point of no return.  I’m past the 1/2 way mark so I’m doing it afraid.  I’m launching the blog.  I’m finishing the book.  I’m starting the business.  I’m declaring to the world that my little light will shine.  My SON-light will shine.  It’s time for the glory of God that is within me to manifest.  I won’t hold back any longer.

“Go get it.  Go get your blessing.  It’s your time!”  Those lines are from one of my favorite Mary Mary songs.

So I claim it.  It’s my time.

And it’s your time too.  Maybe it’s something you’ve tried and you failed.  Are you afraid of it still?  What is it your time for?  Are you shying away from it? What is it your season to do?  Where are you to shine?  Share it with me.  Share it with the world.  Leave a comment and let the world know how brilliant, gorgeous, talented, wonderful and fabulous you are.  Your comment might inspire someone else to their own personal level of greatness.  Be well, my friends. Be well.
