Yesterday Ended At Midnight

I listen to an internet radio station which plays urban Christian music.  There are lots of wonderful musicians, some of whom you’ve maybe never heard of; Carmen Michelle, Kevon Carter, Jessica Ready, LaCrae, Michelle Williams, Tisha Stratford and Rhema Soul.

One of my absolute favorite songs is entitled Midnight by Bryan Pound.  A portion of the lyrics are, “what I’ve done is what I’ve done, what I’ve done I can’t change”.  Another part of the song says, “yesterday ended at midnight, I’m moving on”.

I’ve listened to this song so many times.  And it reminds me that when we ask for God’s forgiveness, he doesn’t remember our yesterday.  So why should we? It’s so simple really.  Relove yourself by forgiving yourself for your yesterday.  Today is a new day. Doesn’t the word tell us morning by morning new mercies are shown to us by our Lord? And we must be like Him and extend that mercy to ourselves.

And just as importantly, we need to relove others.  When we’ve been hurt or wronged we must remember that the greatest gift of love was God loving us when we were like filthy rags.  His son died for us long before we asked for forgiveness.  And truth be told, the sins we’ve committed against Him are far worse than any sin any man has committed against us.

If we are true to our flesh, this relove is quite difficult.  But if we are true to our God, and our belief that He has our back and He is working everything out and He is for us, it’s really not hard at all.  It’s a simple choice.  It’s easier for us to relove ourselves because we tend to justify our actions and we know our true motives, right? But somehow it’s not as easy to relove others when your flesh is burning in anger and resentment and pain.

It seems so easy when we are standing in church on Sunday morning in a high place of praise singing the lyrics to songs that say things like, “cleanse me with fire”, “praise in the middle of it”, and here’s one of my favorites, “for Your glory, I will do anything”.

Really?  Anything?

Then relove.

Trust me… I’m not telling you I’ve mastered this.  But when I’m true to myself and when I’m real with my God, I realize that this burning is a part of the process He has me in.  This cutting away (pruning) is somehow making me more like Him.  I don’t understand it all and I don’t always like it, but I know that His ways are higher and greater than mine.  I know that’s it’s in these times that my faith muscles grow and it’s in the valley that I grow stronger.

My prayer for you today is that you are quick to end your yesterday so your tomorrow can begin with a realization that if He allowed it to come your way, then it must be working for your good.

Be well friends,

KayD G.

The Long Arm of the Law

Bad boys. Bad boys. Whatcha’ gonna do?  Whatcha’ gonna do when they come for you?

Many of us know this as the theme song of the long running TV reality show, COPS.

Do you remember when this show first came on TV?  Who knew reality TV would turn into what it is now.  You can barely turn on the TV with out  seeing someone’s whole life, or at least what they want you to see of it, layed out for all the world to see.  A great deal of it is quite shameful actually.

As far as the bad boys, and the bad girls, of the COPS TV show, all of them are innocent until such time they may be proven guilty in a court of law.  Unfortunately for a lot of them, if you have prior offenses, when you go before the judge, these offenses are brought before the court by the prosecution.

The law doesn’t forget.

Praise God we have grace.  The love of God is long lasting.  For an eternity actually.  But His grace forgives and forgets.  As far as the east is from the west. God will remember your sins no more.

So the next time the prosecution (the Enemy) tries to bring up your past offenses before the Judge, remember that although our Judge is just and we are no longer under the world’s law.  We are under Grace.  You can testify to the prosecution that your Defense Attorney, your Judge and your Jury has acquitted you of all charges.  You are free!

Thanks be to God.

Be well, my friends.

Do you only love me when you like me?

I could stop right there.

Is your love based on your feelings or is your love based on a decision to follow God’s Word that says love the Lord they God with all of your heart, mind and strength and the command to love your neighbor as yourself.  Is your love and what you say about yourself based on His word that you are made in His image?

Do you only love me when you like me?

This applies to your children, your spouse, your friends, your coworkers and yourself.

Remember, relove is all about living free.  You can free yourself by answering this question openly and honestly.

I would love for you to share your thoughts with me.  Leave me a comment and let me know how you plan to grow in this area.

Be well my friends,

KayD G.

Fortune Teller

Today is a very special day for me. At times, one I didn't think I would ever see. But I'm here and it wasn't the words of a palm reader that got me to this place. It was at the palm of my Creator and King and I praise Him for it. It was only God that saw me through to this moment in time.

Oh what freedom there is in knowing that He holds my future in his hands. It had nothing to do with what's written on my palm but it's all in the hand that I choose to hold on to.

My grandmother always used to say, "put your hand in God's unchanging hand". I didn't realize the magnitude of what she was saying until I began to really walk with Him.

I don't know what the future holds but I know Who holds the future. Remember that one? How about that old song with these lyrics,

"Put your hand in the hand of the man who stills the water. Put your hand in the hand if the Man who calms the sea."

So much we could say about this Great Man who stills the water in our lives and Who calms the storms and who leads us beside still waters.

Just want to honor that man today on my special day. Oh how I love him. Be well.

As always, please leave a comment and let me know about your special day let me know about how you're using this special day that God has given us to honor him.

The Real McCoy

I received this comment on my page a little while ago and I want you to read it.

It said, “I see a lot of interesting articles on your page. You have to spend a lot of time writing, i know how to save you a lot of time, there is a tool that creates unique, google friendly posts in couple of seconds, just search in google…” and it went on to provide me with the website.

Just for bumps and giggles, I did a search on this particular site and one of the first things the site proclaimed was “You don’t have to lose many hours writning content on your blog, you can rewrite articles from other sites and pass copyscape test. Google will love your new unique articles and you will have unlimited content and Google friendly posts for your webpage.”

Now truly if someone saw a lot of “interesting articles” on my page, and they truly read them, they would know that I am in no way, shape or form, writing so I can have Google friendly posts on my webpage and unlimited articles while copywriting.

I am absolutely appalled.

RELOVE is about freedom.  RELOVE is about the Truth.  RELOVE is original and provides thought provoking content that our Creator has deposited in my spirit.  I am determined to be a free flowing river, where He can deposit items into me and I can pass them along.  I have vowed to Him never to be a “dead sea” or a hoarder of what He has deposited in me.

My prayer is that my reader base will increase because God has decided to use me as His vessel not because I’ve copied something someone poured their heart into (or copy something someone else copied).

How can I talk about freedom if I were to put myself in bondage by lying to my readers and passing off copywrited content as my own?  I’m the real McCoy and I pray that all areas of our lives would be genuine and pure and unique.

I pray that you all are blessed today.  Be well, my friends.

What in the World???

What in the world? What in the world? That's a loaded question. When I was in seventh or eighth grade I took a drama class. I remember because there was a girl in my class named Holly who was one of the best actress I knew. And she was so funny. The things that she said and the way she said them were just phenomenal. So today I want to visit how Holly might say these words, what in the world?

What in the world is going on? What in the world is happening? What in the world are you doing? I think of these things when a parent walks into the bedroom of their pre-teen and it's an absolute mess. It's easy to say what in the world is going on? When we look at the news and we see some of the devastation or the acts of terror it's easy for us to blurt out, what in the world is happening?

And just as easily said or rather asked, is the question what in the world are you doing? When you stumble upon someone and there may be standing on their head in an awkward position or trying to cook something new and the kitchen is an absolute mess.

But let's take these questions from a spiritual standpoint and ask them again.

What in the world is going on here?

What in the world is happening?

What in the world are you watching?

On the one hand to hear these words it's just a simple question. But looking at it from another side, looking at it with spiritual eyes,
these questions are profound. These questions are thought provoking. And these are questions that we must ask ourselves as believers in the one true and living God.

We cannot stand by any longer and let our nation and our world go to hell in a handbasket because we do not do anything we just stand by and ask the questions.

We must be doers. We must be doers of the word. We must be doers of something.

I know the Lord hears my heart. I know the Lord hears my passion. I know the Lord hears my prayer. But he also must see me doing something.

Now here's one more question that I'm sure you heard asked and now let's ask it. What in the world are you doing for heaven's sake?

I can't answer that question for you. Only you can take a deep look inside yourself to ask what in this world you are doing today for the sake of heaven. What in the world are you doing right now that His kingdom will come and that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Now this time when you read ask the question read the words very slowly . What in the world am I doing for heavens sake?

We want to hear him say well done, right? Then let's get to work.

As always, please leave a comment to tell the world what you think is going on in this world. Or you can tell the world what you are doing to make it better.

Be well, my friends.

round-tuitI love a good play on words and this is one is one of my favorites. The picture to the left is a round tuit. We’ve often heard it said, “I’ll get around to it”.  Well now you have one or at least a picture of one.

So what are you going to do now?  Are you still going to say, “I’ll get around to it tomorrow” or “I’ll get around to it next week” or “I’ll get around to it when I can”?  Procrastination is our enemy, I’ll do it tomorrow, I’ll start it tomorrow or I’ll finish it tomorrow should no longer be in our vocabulary.

God hasn’t called me to do everything but he called me to do something.  And He’s called me to do something now, not later.  Windows of opportunity are opened and closed but I believe some windows of opportunity open and close but God may not lock the window. Just because something seems hard, doesn’t mean it is. It just may appear to be.  Just like something may seem out of your reach, doesn’t mean it is.  It just may appear to be.  Just like at night when you are driving and your eyes play tricks on you.  Making things seem one way but they are something completely different.  Just like fear.  It’s false evidence appearing real.  Doesn’t mean it is real, it just seems that way for a moment.

Sometimes you just have to try.   He’s called me to be a mother and a wife. He’s called me to be a servant-leader. But also He’s called me to be a doer of his word. He’s called me to lead the youth. He’s called me to be the best employee I can be. I leave what is behind and I press toward the mark of the high calling of Jesus Christ. Just like Paul as he said on his deathbed, he fought a good fight he’s run his race. I want to be able to see my Savior smile. I want to look back over my life on my deathbed and say that I have finished the race I have completed the task that God set before me.

What is it that God has called you to? What is the task that He wants you to complete. Are you on that path? Are you on that roadway? Are you gaining the skills that you need for that task to be completed? It could be going to medical school. It could be becoming an engineer. It could be owning the gas station on the corner. It could be working at the dry cleaner. But whatever it is ,do it as working unto the Lord. And you will hear Him on that great day saying, “Well done, my child. Welcome. Come on in.”

What is is that  you’ve been procrastinating about  doing?  What is it that you’ve put off for way too long?  It could have been posting in your blog. (wonder who that could be?)  It could be having that hard conversation that’s needed with a loved one.  It could be as simple as getting rid of unneeded items in your house.  I’m a firm believer that busy people get more done.  I don’t think it’s because they are better at anything than anyone else, I just believe that busy people don’t have “round tuits” in their house or in their vocabulary.
Be well my friends.

I’m not waiting for you!

People go to the Internet for one of two reasons:

1) To solve a problem.

Where do I find the cheapest tires for my car?
I wonder if the grocery store up the street is hiring?
How do I stop my dog from barking all night?

2) To be entertained

I want to see the latest video by that new artist.
I missed the last episode of my favorite show.
I missed the paper today and need to read the local news.

Maybe you are like me.  It’s almost guaranteed that I don’t just find what I need and get off the Internet.  With all of the ads and links (bells and whistles), there is a tendency  to click here and there and stay longer than originally planned.  Well, while I’m clicking away so is the click of the clock.  Father Time has told me, “I’m not waiting for you!”

I think this is why some develop what has become known as a mid-life crisis.  And maybe that’s what I’m going through now with this new passion I have for writing the book and this blog  and even already starting the second book.  My co-worker will tell you that even things said throughout the day at work light up in my mind as a potential blog post titles (Hey YJ!).  And I think this blog post came to me because with the recent challenges and joys in my personal life, time has been ticking away and I hadn’t posted anything in a few weeks.  I miss connecting with you.

As we get older, I’m sure you can definitely attest to those moments in life where you’ve looked back and wished you could get the time back or wondered what you would do if you could do it all over again.

Well I’m here to tell you, it’s never too late.  As you know, this blog is all about finding your place of freedom in this world.  I believe that freedom comes with being in line with God’s word and the plan He has for your life.

As I handed the manuscript for the RELOVE book over to the editor a couple of weeks ago, I looked Father Time in the face and laughed.  I will not let another year go by without being published.  I will not let a week go by without exercising (at least once). I will not let a day go by without telling someone in my life that I love them (and that includes my Father in heaven).  I will not let a moment go by that I am anxious for anything or fearful of anything or anybody.

My prayer for you all is that you are able to look at Father Time in the face and laugh.  Let him know although his clock is running, you’re runny right along side.  Let him know as the old saying goes, “time waits for no one”, you can tell time that he’d better catch up with you!!!  And when our time is over, the Father of all time and space will say, “Well done”.

Be well my friends,

KayD G.

As always, please leave a comment and let me know how this post resonated with you. And if you would be so kind, tell a friend about  It’s their journey to freedom too.  God Bless.

Never Give Up

Everyone loves a good party. Some like to be at the party when it starts so they can find the best spot to sit or stand.  Some like to come in fashionably late and others like to shut the party down and start the after party.  There’s also a group of people out there, and you may be one of them, that never stay until the end of the party.   You always leave just before it’s over. Is that you?   I know a beautiful lady at my church that’s teaching her daughter this latter principle.  (HAHAHA, thanks MM).  So if you one of those kids that was taught you this principle, this relove blog post is for you.

So as I’ve heard it said about what fish and relatives during holidays have in common, they are good for three days and then you need to throw them out.  Thank God, it’s not that way with Him.  God thrives on sticking with you and sticking by you and we should all develop this same attitude.

Persistence is power, and sometimes not taking no for an answer is the right thing, even with God.

There is a perfect example of this in the scripture of the Canaanite woman who came to Jesus to save her demon possessed daughter.

Matthew 15:21-28

21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” 23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” 24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”  25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.  26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”  27 “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”  28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith!  Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment. (NIV)

This unnamed woman approached Jesus with His Messianic title as the Son of David and was persistent with Jesus, even at the expense of perhaps looking and sounding like a fool in front of other people.  Her persistence released her blessing.

In other situations, unlike the parent in the party situation above, it’s good to stay long time.  In 1 Samuel, Hannah, who was unable to have children, went to the temple to pray to God.  As Hannah was pouring her heart out to God, even the man of God thought she was drunk.  But Hannah was persistent with the man of God, saying…

“Oh no, sir—please! I’m a woman hard used. I haven’t been drinking. Not a drop of wine or beer. The only thing I’ve been pouring out is my heart, pouring it out to God. Don’t for a minute think I’m a bad woman. It’s because I’m so desperately unhappy and in such pain that I’ve stayed here so long.” Eli answered her, “Go in peace. And may the God of Israel give you what you have asked of him.” (1 Samuel 1:15-17 MSG)

This woman stayed long in the Master’s house.  And the results were the release of God’s favor over her life.

My prayer today is that you are persistent in the pursuit of what God has already promised in His Word.  Even if you do not see it in your children, aren’t experiencing it on your job and can’t even imagine it in your family life right now, be persistent.  Never Give Up…Persistence is POWER.

Be well, my friends.

The Bear Story

Two men were hiking in the forest when they both saw a bear.  Realizing that the great bear had also seen them, one of the men bent down and began to tie his shoes.  The other man asked, “what are you going, you can’t outrun a bear!”  His fellow hiker exclaimed, “I don’t have to outrun the bear, I only have to outrun you!”

This is a cute, little story and somewhat humorous but it’s also relatively sad.  Sad because that’s exactly our mindset in a great deal of life’s situations.

…to be the #1 student in the class, I don’t have to do my best, I just need to do better than you.

…to get the boss’s attention, I don’t have to create the most widgits, I just need to do create more than you.

…to get the cutest guy or girl, I don’t have to look or act my best, I just need to look or act better than you.

In business, this may be the way things work. And also in certain life situations, this may be the way things work.  But in the Kingdom, it is not.

This reLove blog is about re-thinking.  So let’s re-think this…I don’t have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you.  How about…I don’t have to outrun you, I have to run my race and stay in my lane while I’m doing so.  In the Kingdom race, our start times are different and our finish line is not in the same spot.  Mine may be an uphill battle and you may be skating on thin ice.  The crosses we must bear are very different indeed.

Stop trying to compete with people and just run your race.

Don’t try to compete with people, do more to complete people.

You are in a race, but not with your neighbor.  You are in a race of your own.  To be the best you that you can be and give it all you’ve got to worship the Father and to see Him smile.

Be well my friends.
