This Morning I Repented

Typically when I wake up in the morning, I have a song streaming in my mind. It’s typically a bright song to start my day. Typically my morning song sets the tone for my day. But this morning I had no song. #electionresults #relove

This morning I woke up with a scripture resounding in my head. A scripture that I’ve been told is the exact center of the Word of God. A scripture that for a while was one I stood on frequently. But I hadn’t thought about it in quite some time actually. However, this morning it was brought back to the forefront of my mind.

The scripture I’m referring to is Psalm 118:8.

“It is better to take refuge in the Lord, than to put your trust in man.”

Immediately, I repented.  Turning my face and my heart to the Lord.

I repented for placing even an ounce of trust in man’s ability.

I repented for placing just a thimble full of hope in a person to take ANY sort of lead in my life.

And just as a child of God, knowing He’s not mad at me for making Him too small in my eyes, I turned to Him again and asked God for my morning song.  And because He is so faithful, He gave me “my” song.

So the lyrics that rings in my heart right now?

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

My Hope is Built on Nothing Less”, by Edward Mote, 1797-1874

IT WAS AT THIS TIME I SAW THE ELECTION RESULTS.

My friends, please know that God is your source, Jesus is our help and the Holy Spirit is our peace.

Be well today!

Christ Did Not Die on the Cross

There are so many questions I have relating to Biblical things.  I don’t think God is disturbed by my questions.  He is not irritated that I continually come to Him wanting to know more about Him.  In fact, He welcomes my questions.  He is pleased that I want to know more about Him and that I’m eager to know more about His will and His ways.

Asking questions, means that we are curious. Asking questions means that we are interested.  Asking questions of God means that He is on our mind and we want to know more about Him and how He operates and why He does things the way He does.  It means we want to know His heart and what makes Him smile.

So when I began asking questions in my mind about Jesus Christ and His humanness, God answered me. And He told me Christ did not die on the cross.

“What”, I said. “Of course He did, I’ve read the Biblical accounts.  I’ve heard countless sermons about how Christ died for my sins.  I can’t be hearing You correctly Father”.

And God reassured me that I did hear Him correctly but that I wasn’t listening. He told me again, and I quote, “Christ did not die on the Cross, JESUS did.”

“Well how could this be Lord?”, I exclaimed!  And here’s how he broke it down to me.

Christ being fully the Son of God.  Jesus being fully the Son of Man.  Christ is the Spirit.  Jesus was the man.  Christ Spirit lives forever.  Jesus the man was the one who hung, bled and died.

He went on further to explain to me that Mary was not the mother of Christ, Mary was the mother of Jesus.  God is the Father of Christ alone.  Mary was needed to birth baby Jesus because Jesus was needed to make Christ (the Spirit) legal on the Earth.

In Genesis 1:26, God gave man dominion over the earth. He did not give spirits dominion over the earth.  Because of this, the Son of God (Christ) could not come to the earth to save us. He needed Jesus as a human in order to have dominion over the earth.

So this is why does the Son refer to Himself as the Son of God AND the Son of Man.  And God answered me in this way.

As I continue to ask questions, it’s amazing how God answers these questions for me.  And I appreciate Him for that  today.

Be well my friends.

Hearing His Voice

First, let me say again Happy New Year to all of you.  God is already doing some amazing things in 2015.  At my church, we are in a time of consecration.  We are removing distractions from our lives at the first part of this year, sitting at the feet of the Master and soaking in wisdom and knowledge and gleaning understanding for what the year will bring.  I thank God for removing me from a Martha-position these last couple of weeks into a Mary-position.  With all of the business of the Christmas season and the end of the year, it’s easy to lose focus of the things that are really important.  I thank God for vision and clarity of mind!

While I’ve been sitting at the feet of the Master, it’s become more clear to me how God speaks to me.  I know often times we wonder if the voice we are hearing is God or the enemy or our own thoughts.  Allow me to share a few of my thoughts on this with you.

God never comes to play games. It’s not that He doesn’t like to laugh and be joyful but He doesn’t play mind games.  He doesn’t toy with us.  He doesn’t come with riddles. He may ask us questions but he never comes contradicting or questioning His Word.

The enemy comes with riddles and games and accusations sometimes like a tape recorder that loops the same words over and over.  He comes with sarcasm.  He comes to make you feel bad.  He comes to distort the Truth of God.  He comes to paint God in a negative light.  He comes with an accusing tone and he comes to discredit God’s Word like he did with Eve when he said to her, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

If for no other reason, this is why it’s vitally important for us to know the Word of God.  So when the enemy comes, we will be able to combat his lies with the Truth. We have to know the truth in order to discern a lie.  Please hear me, the old saying, “what you don’t know won’t hurt you” is another lie from the pit of Hell.  What you don’t know will kill you!

Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10a).  He wants to steal every ounce of joy you have; he wants to kill your dreams and ambitions; he wants to destroy our marriages and our family relationships and our friendships.  He wants to take away our positive attitudes and outlook on life.

But God finished this verse with Jesus continuing by saying, “I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10b).  Thank God for Jesus.

When the Holy Spirit speaks to us, He brings clarity to His Word.  He confirms His Word.  He upholds His Word or uses His Word to bring an example to your mind of a person in His Word who may be going through a similar situation as you.  On a personal note, what I’ve found is that when God speaks to me, not only is it comforting and calming and soothing, His voice comes in a complete thought. It’s like He says everything all at once and I completely understand it. And always I can take what He says and find it in His word.

That’s the key to it all…His Word. If there is ever a question as to whether it’s God speaking to you or not, you can check it against His word.  God’s word has all the answers.  His IS the answer.

How does God speak to you?.  Does he speak to you in dreams or visions?  Does he speak to you through pictures or people?  Do you see images in the clouds?  Whatever it is, I would love to hear about it.

Please send your comment and let me know how you discern the voice of God.

Be well my friends.  And God Bless you.

Do you only love me when you like me?

I could stop right there.

Is your love based on your feelings or is your love based on a decision to follow God’s Word that says love the Lord they God with all of your heart, mind and strength and the command to love your neighbor as yourself.  Is your love and what you say about yourself based on His word that you are made in His image?

Do you only love me when you like me?

This applies to your children, your spouse, your friends, your coworkers and yourself.

Remember, relove is all about living free.  You can free yourself by answering this question openly and honestly.

I would love for you to share your thoughts with me.  Leave me a comment and let me know how you plan to grow in this area.

Be well my friends,

The Real McCoy

I received this comment on my page a little while ago and I want you to read it.

It said, “I see a lot of interesting articles on your page. You have to spend a lot of time writing, i know how to save you a lot of time, there is a tool that creates unique, google friendly posts in couple of seconds, just search in google…” and it went on to provide me with the website.

Just for bumps and giggles, I did a search on this particular site and one of the first things the site proclaimed was “You don’t have to lose many hours writning content on your blog, you can rewrite articles from other sites and pass copyscape test. Google will love your new unique articles and you will have unlimited content and Google friendly posts for your webpage.”

Now truly if someone saw a lot of “interesting articles” on my page, and they truly read them, they would know that I am in no way, shape or form, writing so I can have Google friendly posts on my webpage and unlimited articles while copywriting.

I am absolutely appalled.

RELOVE is about freedom.  RELOVE is about the Truth.  RELOVE is original and provides thought provoking content that our Creator has deposited in my spirit.  I am determined to be a free flowing river, where He can deposit items into me and I can pass them along.  I have vowed to Him never to be a “dead sea” or a hoarder of what He has deposited in me.

My prayer is that my reader base will increase because God has decided to use me as His vessel not because I’ve copied something someone poured their heart into (or copy something someone else copied).

How can I talk about freedom if I were to put myself in bondage by lying to my readers and passing off copywrited content as my own?  I’m the real McCoy and I pray that all areas of our lives would be genuine and pure and unique.

I pray that you all are blessed today.  Be well, my friends.

What in the World???

What in the world? What in the world? That's a loaded question. When I was in seventh or eighth grade I took a drama class. I remember because there was a girl in my class named Holly who was one of the best actress I knew. And she was so funny. The things that she said and the way she said them were just phenomenal. So today I want to visit how Holly might say these words, what in the world?

What in the world is going on? What in the world is happening? What in the world are you doing? I think of these things when a parent walks into the bedroom of their pre-teen and it's an absolute mess. It's easy to say what in the world is going on? When we look at the news and we see some of the devastation or the acts of terror it's easy for us to blurt out, what in the world is happening?

And just as easily said or rather asked, is the question what in the world are you doing? When you stumble upon someone and there may be standing on their head in an awkward position or trying to cook something new and the kitchen is an absolute mess.

But let's take these questions from a spiritual standpoint and ask them again.

What in the world is going on here?

What in the world is happening?

What in the world are you watching?

On the one hand to hear these words it's just a simple question. But looking at it from another side, looking at it with spiritual eyes,
these questions are profound. These questions are thought provoking. And these are questions that we must ask ourselves as believers in the one true and living God.

We cannot stand by any longer and let our nation and our world go to hell in a handbasket because we do not do anything we just stand by and ask the questions.

We must be doers. We must be doers of the word. We must be doers of something.

I know the Lord hears my heart. I know the Lord hears my passion. I know the Lord hears my prayer. But he also must see me doing something.

Now here's one more question that I'm sure you heard asked and now let's ask it. What in the world are you doing for heaven's sake?

I can't answer that question for you. Only you can take a deep look inside yourself to ask what in this world you are doing today for the sake of heaven. What in the world are you doing right now that His kingdom will come and that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Now this time when you read ask the question read the words very slowly . What in the world am I doing for heavens sake?

We want to hear him say well done, right? Then let's get to work.

As always, please leave a comment to tell the world what you think is going on in this world. Or you can tell the world what you are doing to make it better.

Be well, my friends.

The Bear Story

Two men were hiking in the forest when they both saw a bear.  Realizing that the great bear had also seen them, one of the men bent down and began to tie his shoes.  The other man asked, “what are you going, you can’t outrun a bear!”  His fellow hiker exclaimed, “I don’t have to outrun the bear, I only have to outrun you!”

This is a cute, little story and somewhat humorous but it’s also relatively sad.  Sad because that’s exactly our mindset in a great deal of life’s situations.

…to be the #1 student in the class, I don’t have to do my best, I just need to do better than you.

…to get the boss’s attention, I don’t have to create the most widgits, I just need to do create more than you.

…to get the cutest guy or girl, I don’t have to look or act my best, I just need to look or act better than you.

In business, this may be the way things work. And also in certain life situations, this may be the way things work.  But in the Kingdom, it is not.

This reLove blog is about re-thinking.  So let’s re-think this…I don’t have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you.  How about…I don’t have to outrun you, I have to run my race and stay in my lane while I’m doing so.  In the Kingdom race, our start times are different and our finish line is not in the same spot.  Mine may be an uphill battle and you may be skating on thin ice.  The crosses we must bear are very different indeed.

Stop trying to compete with people and just run your race.

Don’t try to compete with people, do more to complete people.

You are in a race, but not with your neighbor.  You are in a race of your own.  To be the best you that you can be and give it all you’ve got to worship the Father and to see Him smile.

Be well my friends.

Hole to Whole

My oldest son has always been afraid of spiders.  Especially the big, hairy, rubber black ones that can be seen around Halloween.  I was sitting and talking with my youngest son the other night and surprisingly, I found out that he is afraid of spiders too. I thought to myself, that’s weird.  To have both of my children afraid of the same thing.

And then I thought deeper still.

A lot of us are afraid of the same things.

About 12 years ago, my sister passed away very unexpectedly.  After breaking a bone in her foot, she developed a blood clot that traveled to her lung. Literally, she was here one day and gone the next.  Before that time, two of my aunts died of blood clot related illnesses and my mother has had multiple lower extremity blood clots through the years.  And then it hit me.  Last year, I developed multiple blood clots in my lungs and one in my leg.   Immediately, horrible thoughts entered into my mind. Thoughts of leaving my husband and my boys behind.  Thoughts of my parents having to go through losing another daughter. And immediately I began to cast these thoughts away from me.

Several things I realized about myself during this time, but one thing is for sure, my worst fear had surfaced in my own life.  And if I had been suppressing these fearful feelings for all of these years, then others in my family had been doing the same.  We were afraid of the same things and that fear had once again manifested in our family.

As I was emailing with a co-worker the other day about her medical issues, I could hear the fear in the words she wrote.   It’s like it jumped off the page at me.  She was afraid of living with the pain, she was afraid the medical procedure she was going to have this week wouldn’t work, she was afraid of not being whole.  I could sympathize with her through all of that because those are some of the things I had felt nearly a year ago.

But here’s the difference.  That Sunday morning when I couldn’t breath, I cried out to the only Person who I knew could help me, my Savior Jesus.  I cried out to Him to save me.  I cried out to Him that I knew He had more work for me to do and that He wouldn’t break the hearts of my parents again by loosing me, now their one and only living child.  I cried out to the One who I knew wouldn’t allow my husband and my children to be without their wife and mother.  I cried out and asked for His help.

On the other hand, when I asked my co-worker if there was anything she wanted me to lift in prayer she responded, “It wouldn’t hurt if you could think of me in your prayers”.  That hurt me.  It was at this moment that I realized that she didn’t know my friend Jesus and that it was up to me to be sure she did.

Some say God created a hole inside each one of us that only He can fill.  Some try to fill it with work, or a girlfriend, or a bottle or money but I know it’s a hole that only He can fill.  He is the only one who can make us whole. After my ordeal with my health issue, I made a decision not to worry about anything ever again.  I may be concerned about something but I will never worry again.  I make a conscious choice to not be anxious for anything but in all things, through prayer and supplication, to let my requests be known to God.  And you know what happens after that?  The peace of God that surpasses what my mind can wrap around and what my lips can find the words to say, will be in my heart and in my mind in Christ Jesus.

My prayer for my co-worker and those like her is not just that her medical procedure is 100% successful but that her mind is renewed about the man named Jesus.  That He alone is able to take her from having a hole to being whole.

You may have someone in your life that you recognize needs to be made whole.  I encourage you to share our Jesus with them today.   And we all have our own fears that we have allowed to make a place in our lives.  I encourage you to find and to expel those fears from your life with the Words of God you know can combat any and everything.

Be well, my friends.

Spring is Here

Spring has sprung.  At least on the calendar.

I live on the East Coast and the weather this last few months has been quite eventful.  If you enjoy the snow you are absolutely loving the weather we’ve had this season.  It’s been super cold and extra snowy.  But if you’re like most of us,  you’re ready this craziness to end.  And I have good news…

Spring has sprung.

At least on the calendar.

I was walking into work one morning this week  in 23 degree weather and the thought came  to my mind…isn’t it Spring?  Well yes, of course it is.  At least that’s what the calendar says.  And then immediately two questions came to mind…why am I stepping over a mound of snow and why am I freezing?

I KNOW that it’s Spring even though I SEE snow and I FEEL cold.

It was right then that God gave me a revelation. I have to conduct my life very similar to how I handled walking into work that day.  There are things that I have to KNOW, even though I see something or feel something that is contrary to those facts.

I KNOW that if God is for me then who can be against me.  So when my circumstances try to dictate my life, I have to hold on to what I know.

I KNOW that He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.  So when I don’t feel well or I received an unfavorable doctor’s report, who’s report will I believe?

I KNOW that when I fall into various trials, that I am to count it all joy because the testing of my faith produces patience.  And when patience has it’s perfect work, I will be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

What is it you need to KNOW today?  What are you seeing that you need to turn your eyes away from and look to where your help comes from?  What are you feeling that you need to exercise your God given self control to overcome?

Each of us have situations in our lives that our feelings are trying to dictate.  I implore you today to focus on what you KNOW and not what you feel.  You can do it.  And if you don’t yet know that you can, contact me and we’ll work together to find some scriptures to stand on.

If you are visiting the site today for the first time, please contact me and send me your email address.  I would love to add you to our contact list so you can continue on your freedom journey with us.  Please email at reloverevolution@gmail.com.

If you have never left a comment, I would love to hear from you.  It encourages me to know you are there.    Thanks friends and be well.  We’ll chat soon.

Happy LOVE day

Happy Valentine’s Day!?!  This is the day we celebrate the ones we love.  When my kids were young, I took special care to present them with a basket of goodies with their favorite action figures, a few treats or maybe a new movie.  And of course my husband and I always do something special.  But do we really know why we treat this day as so special? Do we know why Valentines day is celebrated and who St. Valentine is?

From what I’ve researched, St. Valentine was a priest in a time when the emperor Claudius was persecuting the church.   Scholars don’t know much of his early years but do know that he was passionate about Christian marriage. You see, Emperor Claudius had outlawed marriage and  Valentine secretly married people despite the emperors edict.   When he was caught, Valentine was thrown into prison and from prison wrote “love letters” to a certain blind woman he was fond of.  After his three part execution of beating, stoning and finally beheading, stories are told of the miraculous healing of the young blind woman. She was finally able to read the love letters signed, “from your Valentine“.

As thinking people who live in a time not too far removed from slavery and segregation, we know that often times the persecution and our stand for what we believe in will leave a mark on history.

On this Valentines day, my hope is that, like Valentine, we all take a stand for Love. In a time when the world encourages immoral behavior, glorifies hate and even promotes revenge that we take a stand for what we believe in…Love.

If that means either

a.  turning the other check
b.  walking the extra mile
c.  praying for your enemies
d.  doing something good for “your haters” today or
e.  all of the above

then so be it.

I’m determined to make my mark on history.  I wholeheartedly believe in the Power Of One.  A part of the reason for this blog is to spread a bit of love with each post.  It doesn’t have to be a book or a blog or a blast email, but I encourage you to do something to show LOVE today.

Feel free to leave me a comment to let me know what you are doing to show love today, whether it’s to your friend, spouse, children or something special you’re doing for yourself or the world.  Your comments could encourage someone else to spread love as well.

Be well, my friends.
